I love Squidoo.com and use it for a variety of different niche landing pages. In effect I can create simple personal branding messages for given keywords and use them to help push up our main site for selected keywords. In essence I create small dealer micro sites.
What is nice about using squidoo.com for this is it easy to target chosen keywords with precision and I have started creating a farm of lenses tied to automotive keywords around the brands I have in inventory. I have one lens that I built that gets a fair amount of traffic for a competing brand in our market area and has resulted in several sales with minimal upkeep. Usually around 5 minutes a week.
Today the competing dealer did visit my store to complain to my General Manager because this lens is directly under their main site in the SERPS for searches for Golden Isles Nissan. I had to take the time to explain that I was not “messing with” their site. I was just getting our inventory in front of searchers looking for a Nissan in the Golden Isles. It was a truly priceless “Master Card Moment”.
